Massimo Bionda was born in Domodossola on 8 November 1990. He currently lives in Vogogna, a town in the province of Verbania. He began his journey in art through poetry before turning to painting at the age of 28. As a self-taught artist, he learned painting techniques, the use of colour and the use of light. His quest is spontaneous and unceasing. His brushwork, raw and heavy, is infused with liquid fields of colour, at times gaseous and evanescent — an amalgam that takes concrete form in the depiction of the human figure. Over time, as his style has evolved, so too has his palette, arriving at a poetic and chromatic synthesis in which black and white prevail. The chromatic vibration is distilled into a single, powerful contrast. Oil paint, with its unique properties, is the medium Massimo favours.
