SILVIA GABARDI (painter, actress and teacher) Born in Busto Arsizio, she lives between Gallarate and Cassano Magnago. She studied Painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, graduating with a thesis entitled "The Existential Problem of Human Finiteness in Contemporary Art", and subsequently specialised in Printmaking and Art Engraving at the same institution, with the thesis "Emotional Cages". A lifelong devotee of total contemporary art, she studies and creates theatrical performances with the TETRALUNA group for exhibitions and events, takes part in solo and group shows in public and private galleries, participates in photographic safaris and acts with various theatre companies. She teaches Art and Image in schools across the Province. For six years she worked as a tutor-assistant in Printmaking and Engraving at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. In 2003 she was a finalist in the Galleria d'Arte Ghiggini competition in Varese and was selected for Saloonprimo2003 at Brera, Museo la Permanente, Milan. In 2004 she entered the City of Busto Arsizio Painting Prize and in 2006 the Premio Grafica Parigi 2006 graphics competition in Calenzano, Florence. She took part in the printmaking exhibitions "Corpo Urbano", "Itinerarte" and "Corpo-reo", curated by Alberto Balletti. In 2007 she was selected for the National Arts Prize at the Academy of Bologna and subsequently exhibited at the Studio S-Arte Contemporanea gallery in Rome, curated by Carmine Siniscalco. She also participated in the Engraving Biennial of Acqui Terme, a graphics exhibition with Prof. Laura Panno, a watercolour exhibition with Prof. Remo Salvadori and a workshop exhibition with artist Umberto Cavenago. In 2008 she was exhibited at the Istituto D. Dossi in Florence on the occasion of a conference on new contemporary printing techniques. In 2010 she presented a solo show entitled "GABAERGIA2010" at Galleria Spazio Zero. In 2011 she participated in the Venice Biennale with "IL VELO DELLA SPOSA", Pavilion 35, Forte Marghera, Mestre. In 2012 she received a mention in the International Biennial Graphics competition at On the Road Gallery, was cited in the exhibition "Nati per l'arte", and showed in a group exhibition at Galleria Maccagnani, Lecce. In 2013 she held a solo show titled "Luoghi Puramente Casuali 2013" in Arona, participated in the group exhibition at Palazzo Branda in Castiglione Olona, and received a mention for the Premio Città di Fogliazzo, Turin. In 2014 she took part in the exhibition "I 5 sensi" at Galleria d'Arte Tadini, Milan. In 2015 she was selected and invited to participate in "VII l'Arte e il Torchio" at the Civic Museum "Ala Punzone" in Cremona with works on paper, and joined the group show "Terra chiama Arte" at Galleria Farioli, Busto Arsizio and Libreria Boragno. In 2016 she created the solo show GABAERGIA 2016 at Galleria Farioli, Busto Arsizio. From 2016 to 2020 she presented the solo show "Gabbie Emozionali" at Locanda di Chiaravalle, Milan, and the solo show "Nuovi Mondi" at Spazio d'Arte in Busto. In 2025 she held a solo exhibition at the Castle of Legnano. In 2026 she participates in Premio Brera 2026, Galerie Bordone (Paris) and Galleria Palazzo Revedin, Venice. She is currently developing a series of projects under the titles Gabaergia, "Luoghi Puramente Casuali" and "Nuovi Mondi", in which she explores unreal or utopian spaces, experimenting with the three-dimensionality of matter.
