Paolo Avanzi is an eclectic personality who has never shied away from the various challenges — not only cultural — that life has presented him. Classical studies, piano at the conservatory, a degree in psychology, corporate management experience, creative writing, theatre. In his creative vision, music, theatre, literature... are not dimensions foreign to the visual arts, but rather complementary facets of a single perspective aimed at transcending the constraints that a free mind cannot accept. In the visual arts, Paolo Avanzi has channelled his worldview, experimenting with diverse techniques in search of the most compelling solutions. From watercolours to plastics, from oils to acrylics, arriving at a decidedly unconventional figurative language. This multiplicity of experiences has allowed the artist to adopt a perspective unbound by the usual canons of academic training, thereby avoiding the risk of falling into the routine typical of the professional artist who repeats himself so as not to abandon his own cliché. In his "painting", Paolo Avanzi offers his own vision of reality — a fragmented, distorted vision, subject as it is to the many pressures of contemporaneity. To embrace it, one needs multiple physical and mental perspectives. And that is precisely what this artist strives to develop in order to address the most complex and intriguing aspects of the human being. His style is characterised by a process of fragmentation and deformation of the figure, which is perceived as if through a distorting mirror. Over more than twenty years of activity, Paolo Avanzi has exhibited at major art fairs in Italy and abroad. He has held dozens of solo exhibitions and hundreds of group shows. Over 100 works have been sold at auction. Paolo Avanzi regularly organises solo and group exhibitions at his atelier Spazio Intelvi 11 in Dizzasco (800 metres from Argegno on Lake Como). He is the author of novels, short story collections, plays and poetry collections. He wrote an essay on creativity, "Divagazioni a 360° sulla Creatività" (The Writer editions). Paolo Avanzi is also active as an actor and storytelling expert. He hosts cultural segments on various web radio stations.
