"Neither Losers Nor Winners" - Solo Exhibition by Alexandra Kordas in Turin

I hate war: because there are neither winners nor losers

The Accorsi Arte gallery in Turin, Via Fratelli Calandra 9, presents "Neither Losers Nor Winners", the solo exhibition of Alexandra Kordas, on view from 13 to 27 May 2023. The exhibition, curated by Daniela Accorsi, addresses with strength and sensitivity the theme of war and its devastating consequences, particularly on civilians and women.

The six phases of war

The exhibited works belong to the series "The Six Phases of War", a pictorial cycle inspired by the theories of psychologist Kurt Lewin on the division of armed conflict into six distinct phases. Through a combination of figurative and abstract techniques, Kordas gives form to the human emotions that traverse the different stages of conflict: from initial tension to destruction, from suffering to the fragile hope of reconstruction.

The cross is a recurring and powerful symbolic element in Kordas's work, charged with universal meaning. It emerges among fluid and instinctive brushstrokes, serving as a bridge between the tangible and the intangible, between life and death, between denunciation and prayer.

The artist

Alexandra Kordas, born in Munich, began her artistic journey in 2018, driven by a renewed creativity fuelled by her Waldorf School education and an emotionally intense period linked to her son's illness. After a career as an actress and screenwriter, she found in painting the most authentic means of expression to recount the inner and collective conflicts of our time.

Her works explore the great existential contrasts, between heaven and hell, life and death, joy and pain, with a vision rooted in social denunciation and empathy towards the victims of conflict.
